The future of care

The future of patient safety starts in the bathroom.

SafeLife provides discreet, reliable bathroom sensors that alert staff the moment a patient becomes unresponsive — engineered to protect dignity while saving precious seconds.

Built by Purdue engineering students — HIPAA-aware design & privacy-first installation.

Why care centers choose SafeLife

Immediate alerts

Staff receive instant push and SMS-style alerts with precise stall location, giving caregivers time to respond.

Privacy-first

Sensors detect movement and presence – not video. No cameras, no audio recording, no identifiable information stored.

Easy integration

Works with existing alert systems and staff apps. Install in minutes with pieces sent in package and a screwdriver!

How it works

A simple, respectful sensing system that turns seconds into lifesaving action.

1. Discreet sensing

Low-power proximity + motion fusion watches for patterns indicating unresponsiveness.

2. Intelligent verification

Local logic verifies events to reduce false alarms, then sends a prioritized alert to staff.

3. Fast response

Alerts include location and recommended protocols so staff can arrive prepared and quickly.

FAQ

Does SafeLife use cameras or audio?
SafeLife sensors never use camera or audio in the bathrooms. To detect unresponsiveness, our sensors use proximity and motion sensing. We believe in the safety and security of our users while maintaining their dignity, so our design is intended to appear and function as "non-invasively" as possible.
How are false alarms handled?
Our firmware verifies patterns locally before escalation. Staff receive a short verification window to cancel misfires.
What types of bathrooms is the sensor compatible with?
SafeLife's sensor is compatible with single-stall and multi-stall bathrooms; however, the sensor is most effective in single-stall bathrooms as there is less external activity than communal multi-stall bathrooms. Sensor effectiveness can depend on a case-by-case basis, but we are here to make our system work for you.
Does the system integrate with existing staff alert apps or pagers?
Out of the box, our sensor system comes with text message alerts and an app to track event history. However, our team can work with care center staff to link our system with other existing systems if necessary.
How sensitive is the sensor to cleaning chemicals?
Our sensors are built with consideration of protecting the sensitive sensors. Additionally, the sensor is placed on the cieling: a lesser affected area by cleaning agents and water.
How much do SafeLife sensors cost?
SafeLife sensors are $200 per sensor out of the box as a flat fee. The only recurring fee is a $100 yearly charge per sensor to ensure continuous support of SMS alerts and necessary updates. The price can vary if major customization has to be done, but that will be communicated before significant work on the customization.
Is there a dashboard for admin to view event history?
Yes, there is a web dashboard for care center admin to view event history per bathroom. More information about accessing this dashboard can be viewed in the instruction manual included with the product.
What does installation look like?
The sensor kit is shipped to your care center with an installation guide, the sensor, screws, and 4 AA batteries. To install, simply screw the back plate into the cieling, install the batteries, and snap the rest of the sensor onto the back plate. It's that easy (all you need is a screwdriver or impact drill)! Full instructions will be included in the installation guide.
Is a trial period or demo available?
At SafeLife, we are dedicated to making the transition to using our sensor solution as seemless as possible. Thus, we offer a 1-month no-obligation trial period with all requested customizations for only $100. Before any trial period or non-trial implementation of the sensor to your care center, our team will be willing to incorporate any suggested changes or customizations to make the sensor work for you.
What are the other options?
Our competitors have great products, too. But, the main concern is that they apply the one-size-fits-all mentality to a very non-uniform issue: not allowing the customizability that is required by many care centers to have effective bathroom sensors. Simultaneously, our competitors demand uniformity and strict rules about the way bathrooms fitted with their sensors must function: many of them requiring bathroom/stall doors to stay open when patients are not using it, which is impossible to guarantee at all times. Additionally, these solutions tend to be out of the price range of small to mid-sized care centers and clinics. We work with you to make sure our sensors can work with your systems.
How much attention can I expect as a SafeLife partner?
As a care center or clinic with our sensors, we consider you our partner, not our client. We want to build a solution for you to continue doing your job: saving lives. You can expect the degree of attention you require to make safer bathrooms a reality, especially if you have specific customizations required for the facility or bathrooms the sensors will be implemented in.
